Cosimo Musca was born in Italy on 29 June 1966 and in 2005 was graduated Executive-MBA at ALMA Graduate School, University of Bologna, Italy. He obtained a degree in Economics and Commerce from University of Palermo, Italy and studied at High School of Commerce and Enterprises Administration - Group Supérieur de Commerce Amiens Picardie, France. He was qualified as Italian National Chartered Public Accountant-Tax Adviser in 1994 and Italian National Registered Independent Auditor in 1999 and he is a Member of the related official Italian Registers.

 

Current position

STMicroelectronics is a global independent semiconductor company that designs, develops, manufactures and markets a broad range of semiconductor integrated circuits and discrete devices. Within STMicroelectronics S.r.l. his current position is Italy R&D and Public Programs Manager and he has the responsibility of the Italian perimeter of the European R&D and Public Affairs team with the mission to develop the competitiveness of R&D and advanced activities in Italy through the maximization of existing and the promotion of new funding opportunities (at central and regional level), starting from the strategy of the STMicroelectronics S.r.l. based research and investment activities (both at company and group level). He has the responsibility of the direct relations with the Italian Public Institutions and to negotiate public funding contracts.

 

Previous experience

After a period spent as consultant for SMEs and big Companies, in December 1994 he started to work as R&D Funded Projects Manager on R&D funded projects at CoRiMMe, Catania, Italy - a Consortium created between SGS-Thomson Microelectronics S.r.l. and the University of Catania - to manage R&D funded projects and complex high technical contracts, accompanying project managers, answering to different problems of project management, cost and delay control, quality of performance and delivered results.

In June 2001 he joined STMicroelectronics S.r.l. in Agrate Brianza, Italy to take the position of Financial Controller and Funding Coordination within Advanced System Technology Group (AST), with the specific responsibility to manage, plan and control financials at AST level of the activity and a particular focus on management and control of the grants and financing of research coming from different institutions (as European Commission and National and Regional Governments in France, Italy and Switzerland) within different public funding programs (FP4, FP5, FP6, and FP7, Eureka-MEDEA+, etc.). He has also acquired extensive experience in EU project management and team-building.

 

Additional information

Since December 2005 he is a Board member within “DHITECH Scarl” in Lecce, Italy.

Since June 2007 he is a Board member within “MIXEL Scarl” in Desio (Milan), Italy.
