Popular music is defined as a set of different music traditions and expressions not included in the domain of classical music, but linked to specific ethnic/social groups, where the transmission standard is oral. However, this definition should identify broader contents linked to deep-rooted cross-cultural traditions, to artistic productions made by and for people. In fact, the investigation of differences between cultures helps the development of a broader social community.
The project will focus on the analysis of the popular music repertoires, from the Baroque period to date, in the 3 IPA Countries, in order to discover possible similarities, which will be the basis for a new future music production, putting the cultures of the territories involved into an integrated system. Also, cross-cultures researches about music interpretation are an innovative subject of study: there’s the need to understand how cognitive and emotional processes are linked to musical perception.
The popular repertoires music, worthy of great cultural, sociological and artistic interest will be connected in a shared music network, aimed at valorising territorial peculiarities and common traditions. This analysis will be deepened thank to the involvement of a neuroscience tool, through which it will be possible to investigate the neurobiological responses of people, belonging to the co-involved territories, to listen to the music covered by the project.
