BIOMIMICRY: ECCO ISPIRATE INNOVATION FROM NATURA

The Dhitech organizes a day dedicated to Biomimetics at Le Cesine

Saturday, May 23, from 9.30 at Le Cesine, Vernole (LE)

Animals, plants and microbes are proven engineers. They have already experienced what works, what is appropriate and what lasts on our planet. Now we begin to take example from them!
The Dhitech organizes the event entitled Biomimicry on Saturday 23 May: Nature as a Model, Measure and Mentor" under the WWF Oasis Le Cesine.
From bios that means life and mimesis in the sense of imitating: one can simply think of Biomimicry as "innovation inspired by Nature". It is precisely to this discipline that studies the forms, processes and systems of Nature, the High Tech District of Lecce is inspired, which, in the context of the European Green Week 2015, has thought of a full immersion creative and meditated in the enchanting nature reserve Le Cesine, in the Municipality of Vernole, a few kilometers from Lecce.
During the morning a workshop with scientific contributions will be held by Dhitech and innovative start-up companies that will illustrate Biomimicry and its applications for the definition of bio-inspired products and processes. The workshop will be followed by a guided tour of the nature reserve during which plants and animals will be observed and will focus on their potential to inspire innovative and sustainable products and processes. Participants will be invited to a reflection path and will be involved in discussion activities to better understand and appreciate biomimicry.
Depending on the number of people, the visit will be carried out in tight or parallel groups. In the case of adverse weather conditions, the activity will be carried out within Masseria Cesine.
Participation is free, but a maximum number of participants is expected, eighty people, so registration will be required. The meeting is scheduled at Masseria Cesine at 9.30 on Saturday 23 May.

"The event is part of the European Green Week 2015 initiative, the most important European annual conference on environmental issues, which will be held in Brussels from 3 to 5 June next. The European initiative provides for the organization of "satellite" events in different EU countries, selected by public call. ", explains Katia Chiriatti, Head of Technology Innovation Ecosystem Living Lab of Dhitech, who organized the event in the field of Living Lab activities, and emphasizes: "The central idea is that Nature, creative and innovative by necessity, has already solved many of the problems we are dealing with today. ".
Viva satisfaction is expressed by the President of Dhitech Lorenzo Vasanelli, who says: "Why not take example from Nature? It is important that this momentum towards nature comes from our Technological District, because we are firmly convinced of the validity of biomymetics, as a discipline that enhances a reasoned and creative return to the most natural things.
By studying the best ideas of Nature and imitating it, in fact, we can help solve the problems of our society, inspiring sustainable innovation in all sectors: technological, economic and social; preserving and regenerating ecosystems and expanding knowledge on biodiversity. ".
